MFDS Part 1 Registration with RCS England: A Step-by-Step Guide for International Candidates

Registering for the MFDS Part 1 examination can feel confusing, especially if you are applying as an international candidate. In this guide, I will explain my personal experience completing the MFDS Part 1 registration with the Royal College of Surgeons of England, including booking the examination, making payment and submitting my dental degree for eligibility verification.

Step 1: Create an RCS England Account

The first step in the MFDS Part 1 registration process was to create an account on the official Royal College of Surgeons of England website.

I entered my personal details, contact information and registered email address. It is important to use an email account that you check regularly because RCS England will send your application, payment and examination confirmation emails there.

Step 2: Wait for the MFDS Part 1 Booking Period

After creating my account, I had to wait for my preferred MFDS Part 1 examination sitting to open for booking.

MFDS Part 1 registration is only available during the official booking period. Once applications opened, I logged into my RCS England account and selected the relevant MFDS Part 1 examination sitting.

It is always better to register early instead of waiting until the closing date, especially if you need additional time to submit your eligibility documents.

Step 3: Select the UK and Ireland Examination Option

As an international candidate, I was still able to select the UK and Ireland examination option because the MFDS Part 1 examination was conducted online.

This meant that I did not need to travel to the United Kingdom or Ireland to sit the examination. I could complete the online examination from my location, provided I followed the examination and technical requirements given by RCS England.

Step 4: Complete the Booking and Make Payment

After selecting the correct MFDS Part 1 sitting, I completed the booking by making the examination payment.

Once the transaction was successful, an order confirmation appeared on my RCS England account. I also received an email at my registered email address confirming that my application had been submitted and that the payment had been received.

However, receiving the payment confirmation did not mean that the entire MFDS Part 1 registration process was complete.

Step 5: Submit Your Dental Degree Certificate

One of the most important parts of the MFDS Part 1 registration process was submitting a copy of my dental degree certificate for eligibility verification.

I emailed my dental degree certificate to:

dentaleligibility@rcseng.ac.uk

This was a compulsory step in my application process.

From my experience, failing to send the dental degree certificate could delay or prevent the final examination confirmation from being issued. Therefore, I recommend sending the certificate as soon as possible after completing the booking and payment.

When sending the email, make sure that:

  • Your dental degree certificate is clear and readable.
  • Your name matches the name used in your RCS England application.
  • You include your examination or booking details where relevant.
  • You send the document from your registered email address.
  • You keep a copy of the sent email for your records.

Step 6: Wait for the Final Confirmation Email

After submitting my dental degree certificate, I waited for the second email from RCS England.

This was the important confirmation email stating that my eligibility had been accepted and that my place in the MFDS Part 1 examination was confirmed.

The first email mainly acknowledged my application and payment. The second email confirmed that my eligibility documents had been reviewed and that my examination registration was complete.

Once I received this confirmation email, I knew that everything was in order.

What Happens After MFDS Part 1 Registration?

After receiving the final confirmation, the registration process was officially complete.

At that point, there was only one thing left to do: get as much knowledge into my head as possible and begin preparing seriously for the MFDS Part 1 examination.

The registration stage may appear complicated at first, but the process is manageable when you complete each step carefully and submit your dental degree certificate without delay.

Important Advice for International MFDS Candidates

Do not assume that your registration is complete immediately after making payment.

The order confirmation and payment acknowledgement are only part of the registration process. You must also submit the required eligibility document and wait for the final confirmation email from RCS England.

Check your inbox and spam folder regularly, keep copies of all emails and contact RCS England if you do not receive an update after submitting your documents.

This registration process is based on my personal experience applying for the online MFDS Part 1 examination with RCS England. Candidates should always check the latest instructions for their chosen examination sitting because the booking process, fees and examination arrangements may change.
