Top 10 Funniest & Most Relatable Questions Malaysians Have Asked Their Dentist 🦷🇲🇾

Being a dentist in Malaysia means more than just fillings, cleanings, and crowns.
It also means you get to hear — and sometimes see — the quirkiest, funniest, and most very Malaysian dental moments… all shared with a completely straight face.

Here are my top favourites that still make me laugh — and might just make you say, “Eh, I’ve heard that before!”

1. “After filling, can eat durian? Will the smell stick to the filling?”

The durian obsession is real. Yes, you can — but please brush after, unless you want me to cry from the smell.

2. “If my teeth comes off, got warranty ah? Mau replace?”

If only teeth came with a lifetime warranty card… Sadly, no free replacements here.

3. “If I want gold crown later ah, can go airport or not? It won’t beep-beep ah? I’m frequent traveler.”

No worries — your crown won’t set off the scanner. But you might set off compliments.

4. “The more I smile, the faster I’m getting smile line wrinkles… should I stop smiling?”

Smiling is free therapy. Wrinkles are just proof you’ve been happy.

5. “Eh doctor, can polish my tooth until can see my reflection?”

Yes… but I can’t guarantee it doubles as a makeup mirror.

6. “If my filling drop while I’m eating kacang, should I swallow or keep?”

Please keep it — I promise I’m not charging extra to put it back.

7. “The other day a teeth from my denture I swallowed…”

I asked, “Why didn’t you come to the clinic sooner?”
She replied, “I was waiting for it to come out from my poop… but it didn’t. Can you replace it?”
Yes — much safer (and cleaner) to replace it than to go on a *poop treasure hunt*.

8. “After scaling, can I drink teh tarik straight away or must wait?”

You can, but if you want your teeth to stay white, maybe wait a bit.

9. “Do you sell that minty water so I can use at home?”

They meant mouth rinse… but honestly, “minty water” sounds like a spa drink.

10. “Can put diamond on my tooth? I want bling when I smile.”

It’s possible, but not exactly what dentists would recommend.

These moments aren’t just hilarious — they remind me how unique and colourful Malaysian patients are.
From durian debates to “denture drama,” every appointment is a mix of care, culture, and comedy.

So the next time you see your dentist, ask away — you might just end up in their Top 10 list too.
